Motherhood and the fourth trimester are tough. We set ourselves up for disappointment and feelings of failure when we think we must be blissfully happy at every turn. That is just not reality. You will not love every moment and that’s ok. It is ok to feel those feels and in that moment the greatest gift you can give yourself is self compassion. You’ve got this mama.
While change and uncertainty can feel so scary and uncomfortable, there is opportunity in those moments for growth.
The words we say to ourselves have meaning. The thoughts we think about ourselves have meaning. Pay attention to how you think and speak to yourself today. Is it positive or negative? Can you cultivate a narrative of positivity with uplifting words and thoughts? Can you use the same gentle words and thoughts you speak of your newborn for yourself? You are worth it.
It is not selfish to do things to grow and cultivate ourselves or our relationship with our partner. It is a vital component to the growth of our children that we as mamas remain grounded and centered with a strong sense of self and sound relationships with our partner. Make a list of the things you do that light you up, that center you, that make you feel cared for. Take a few moments at least a few times a week to do one of those things. YOU matter. YOUR partner matters.
👀😬Yes, I know, hair falling out in clumps is quite distressing! It’s one of those things not many people talk about, but it’s real and it is quite normal for an overwhelming majority of mamas.
Happy Easter to those that celebrate!!
